Jill Hutchings
I grew up in Northern California as a child. Never ran the mile once in P.E., but loved and enjoyed playing Rugby and Soccer through high school. I spent 10+ years in the beauty industry as an artist and manager, and am a mother of two who loves to host parties, bake, and do crafts and design.
I was never overweight growing up, but once the pressures of a career, marriage, children, and poor body image added up the pounds followed. I found myself unsatisfied with the life I was living on a daily basis and how I felt. I was tired all the time, in constant pain in my lower back, knees, and joints, and couldn't keep up with my kids and I was only in my late 20's early 30's. It felt like I had tried everything, but nothing "worked". I had done bootcamps, diets, and doctors, and gave up when my health issues overwhelmed my life. I had three consecutive years of having major abdominal surgeries, that left me feeling incapable and defeated.
After making other major changes in my life and moving to the Dripping Springs / Austin area I found myself at the local Founders Day fair walking the booths at 210lbs with kids in tow, when I came up on the dreaded personal training gym booth. I quickly passed it and ducked into the next booth that was thankfully kids toys. I glanced around the corner though and kinda checked it out and listened. I got a little curious since it had been awhile since I had been taken for a ride on the latest and greatest fitness trend, but I wasn't hearing much of the normal jargon from them. I was wondering inside if I was now ready to make some physical changes, since I had made so many other changes to my life recently. So I mustard up everything I had and went over. I ended up telling the personal trainer and owner of the local gym some of my background with health and fitness and even ended up crying ( how embarrassing ). I bought 3 sessions that day at the fair and they changed my life. Not because what she was selling was magic, but because I invested in myself and showed up. Thankfully the trainer I was showing up to taught me the basics of fitness and nutrition so that I was able to successfully make the changes and adjustments I needed to in my life to maintain a healthier lifestyle. My life now is completely different from the one I was living. The day my daughter said "Mom, remember when you used to take lots of naps? I didn't like that." that was the day I really knew I was not only changing my life, but my families.
I'm not a certified personal trainer because I have a six pack, am the leanest person in your neighborhood, can lift the most, or have amazing genetics. I'm a certified personal trainer because I have been there, I have made the mistakes, I have failed and then succeeded, I have found what works for me, and what I can maintain. I'm a certified personal trainer because I want to help you do the same.
Whether you are looking to lose a significant amount of weight, preparing for a special day or event or want to improve your body composition, I can build a training program just for you and your goals. All training sessions are built to the needs and abilities of each of my clients, focusing on achieving long-term results and lifestyle changes through challenging and effective workouts. I place a big emphasis on stability and proper form which are all essential for your everyday life outside of the gym. Personal training sessions are held in a private gym at my home in the Belterra community. Along with my workouts, I am a huge advocate of healthy eating and provide nutrition guidance and daily motivation to help my clients stay on track.
